We quite often hear the question: You are selling product X for € 515,- while in the USA it only costs $ 499,-.
We know, if you make the calculation of $ 499,- / 1,20 (Example $ rate) = € 415,83 It seems indead that it is cheaper. However, mostly we are cheaper then when you import it yourself. Because Above calculation is not right!
The correct way of calculating the approximate price you pay when you import it yourself is:
$ 499,- Product X
$ 70,- Shipment
-------------------
$ 569,- Total USD
/ 1,20 (Approx USD/Euro Rate)
---------
€ 474,16
+ 90,09 (19% Sales tax) [*1]
----------
€ 564,25 Subtotal.
40,- Approximate Additional cost which variates a country. [*2]
---------
€ 604,25 Will be the approx price you pay when you import it directly fromout the USA.
€ 515,- Our Price (all taxes included, Excl shipping)
€ 10,- Our average shipping cost (depending on the country)
---------
€ 79,25 +
So this means that with your own import you may pay about € 79,- more
[*1] When you import from outside the EU you have to pay import tax if the products come form outside the EU. These taxes are charged by your local government. NOTE:This is only when you are an EU citizen, and does not accur when you buy something fromout the EU.
So to be clear.....
USA > EU: You pay Extra Tax.
EU > EU. The price shown on the website is the actual price you pay. Non additional import fee occur.
[*2] This may include Fuel charge, import declaration cost, a few % special import tax etc. etc.
** No right on this calculation. The import rate may variate on currency rate, and courty rules. All we wanted to get clear here is that our prices include all kind of taxes and are the final price you pay (excl shipping) when shipped within the EU.
